The Deep Work Hypothesis

The ability to perform deep work is becoming increasingly rare at the same time it's becoming increasingly valuable in the economy.

The 4 Rules

  1. Work deeply — Add rituals and routines to minimise the friction of transitioning into deep work states.
  2. Embrace boredom — Your ability to concentrate is a skill that requires training.
  3. Quit social media — Apply the craftsman approach: adopt a tool only if its positives substantially outweigh its negatives.
  4. Drain the shallows — Schedule every minute of your day.
